Knights of Columbus Council 10961 November 2019 Family of the Month
The Denfeld Family
Council 10961 is honored to select the Joseph (Joe) and Diane Denfeld Family as recipients of the Family of the Month for November 2019.
Joe is a native of Boulder, CO, and a graduate of Colorado School of Mines with an Engineering Degree. Diane is a native of North Dakota and a graduate of C. U. Boulder with a M.B.A. in Business Administration. Joe and Diane met in January of 1997 at Sacred Heart of Jesus in Boulder, CO, and were married in April of 1998. Happily married for 21 years, they have been blessed with four children, ranging in ages from 20-10, Elizabeth, John, Matthew and Nicholas.
Joe and Diane moved to Broomfield in 2000 and immediately became pillars of the Nativity of Our Lord parish and our local community. Joe became quite involved with the Boy Scouts of America that Nativity of Our Lord sponsors and is currently the Chartered Organizational Representative. Joe is also an Eagle Scout and the proud father of son John, who just earned his Eagle Scout Rank.
Diane volunteered her services as a catechist and also assisted with the junior high and high school youth formation programs. Diane assisted with whatever faith formation programs needed help and is currently the parish Stewardship Director.
The Denfeld children follow their parents’ examples and are quite involved with the parish. Elizabeth can be found at the front desk of the parish receptionist in the evening. John is a Senior Altar Server, helps as a Sacristan on the weekend Masses and in the summer substitutes as a Sacristan for weekday Masses. Matthew also is an altar server and participates in the parish youth group programs. Nicholas is in Religious Education and helps with all family activities.
The Denfelds do everything together from Rangering and camping through the mountains year round, helping with set-up and clean up for major parish programs such as the parish picnic, Nativity Days and any Knights events that need additional help. Whatever parish-wide activities around Nativity of Our Lord you’re sure to see the Denfelds.
The Denfeld family is very committed to working together and helping each other with home chores and being together in all that they do.
Joe is very supportive of the Knights of Columbus and, because of his nature of jumping into any commitment with all his energy, his engagement and responsibilities to family, church, BSA, and his job as Engineer Project Manager for Denver University has deferred his potential membership to a later date.
Joe and his family truly exemplify who the Knights of Columbus are, and it’s with great honor to acknowledge the Denfeld Family as the Family of the Month of Council 10961. Their name will be submitted to the State Council for consideration as the Colorado State Family of the Month for November 2019.
