The Bruchez Family
Council 10961 is honored to select Sir Knight Robert and Cecilia Bruchez Family as recipients of the Family of the Month for December 2019.
Robert is a native of Boulder, CO, and received an Associates Degree in Electronics from Northeastern Junior College in Sterling, CO. Robert was hired by Western Electric in 1970, and through a series of mergers and acquisitions, wound up retiring from AT&T in 2004 with 34 years of service.
While working for Western Electric in Colorado, Robert noticed on the back cover of a Catholic Digest Magazine a pen-pal ad that started a letter-writing friendship with Cecilia Rousseau from Clarkston, WA. After a 13-month pen-pal courtship Robert and Cecilia married in 1974. They are the proud parents of 8 children (4 boys and 4 girls) and are happily involved with their 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Sir Knight Robert joined the Order in 2002 and is an insured member in good standing of Council 10961 and a Charter Member of St. Charles Borromeo Assembly 3709. Robert has served Council 10961 as a Grand Knight, Deputy Grand Knight, Chancellor, Advocate, Recorder and Trustee and is also an Assembly Trustee. Two of Robert’s four boys, Edward and Louis are Sir Knights, Martin recently became an e-Member, and Michael the youngest son became an Eagle Scout in 2016.
The entire Bruchez family is very dedicated to serving both the parish community and the Knights of Columbus by consistently helping with most of the Council service and fund raising projects, serving coffee and donuts, Tootsie Roll Drives, Pancake Breakfast, Burrito making and sales, Lenten Fish Bakes, Turkey Drive collection for Samaritan House, selling Mother’s Day Cards for Catholic Charities, Free Throw Contest; and supporting our Council Church programs, Denver Pro-Life March, Prayers at Planned Parenthood, Prayer in the Square, Fifth Sunday Rosary, Corpus Christi Procession and Marion Icon Prayer Programs, just to name a few. Whenever there is a need, the Bruchez family responds.
Sir Knight Robert and Cecilia have attended several K of C State Conventions as a voting delegate and Alternate as well as consistently attending Mid-Year and Metro meetings.
Sir Knight Robert Bruchez and his family truly exemplify who the Knights of Columbus are and serve as a model and inspiration to Brother Knights how to joyfully serve as a family. It is with great honor to acknowledge the Bruchez Family as the December Family of the Month of Council 10961. Their name will be submitted to the State Council for consideration as the Colorado State Family of the Month for December 2019.
