Sir Knight James C. Farver
Jim Farver joined the Knights of Columbus in October of 2017 and became a Sir Knight 6 months later. Jim joined the Knights of Columbus by the nudging of his wife Joanne and immediately became very active with the council. He currently serves as the Council Treasurer and is an insured member. Jim is a native of Indiana and graduate of Purdue University with a degree in Computer Sciences. Upon graduating from Purdue, he accepted a job in San Diego, CA as a software developer. While working in San Diego, Jim met his wife of 40 years, Joanne, who was raised in a very devout Irish Catholic family. She was very instrumental in Jim converting to Catholicism before they married in 1980. Jim and his wife moved to Colorado in January of 1982 and raised two children. Jim has served the Nativity of Our Lord parish community as a parish council member and also on the school’s principal’s advisory council.
As a member of Council 10961, Jim has taken on the responsibility of preparing the agendas for both council business and officer meetings. Jim is also involved with the council social media team, developing more effective communication platforms to allow members unable to attend meetings to be well informed.
Jim is semi-retired but is still active with an upstart software company. Jim also volunteers twice a week at Catholic Charities Samaritan House, teaching a class on computer skills and a class on Salvation History to residents, who are required to take life skills classes while residing at Samaritan House. Jim is also an active member of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem.
Jim and his wife Joanne are daily communicants, pray morning prayers (lauds) immediately after morning Mass, pray the rosary together at home, and provide a strong spiritual model for the Brother Knights of Council 10961.
It is with great honor to acknowledge Sir Knight James Farver as the Knight of the Month for January 2020. His name will be submitted to the State Council for consideration as the Colorado State Knight of the Month for January 2020.
